Camcorders : SANYO Xacti E1 Waterproof Camcorder

Own at Nikon D200 for the really good shots. However, bought this for a ski trip. Tucked it in my sleeve pocket and took video and stills with my gloves still on in 2 degree weather. Videos are awesome. Stills are surprisingly good and wonderfully clear considering the cost of this camera (and the bitter cold). If you want HD quality video, i.e., like the movies, then buy an expensive one. If you want to enjoy vacation video of you skiing, waterskiing and being active, this is the camera for you. Buying one for my daughter and niece. Bought extra battery, although 1 charge lasted all day on the mountain (turned off when not in use). LOVE the memory stick capability. Insert into card reader and watch video full screen on your laptop. No conversion from DVD, or mini CD. Take out, flip open and record. Hide Full Review

I bought the Xacti E1 for a vacation in Miami Beach. It certainly served its purpose. I had a blast with the video camera in the ocean and for stills around the beach. The 5 feet depth llimitation was no problem. The pistol grip is a plus when swimming around while shooting video. The jpegs are razor sharp.

I suggest you use the highest quality for both stills and video.

I was happy with the quality for both video and stills. We're not talking Network TV quality images for the video portion of the camera. Just beware.. I carry the camera with me at all times.
Indoor quality for both video and jpeg still are unacceptable. even upping the ISo for both yields poor quality images.
