DON'T buy this if you plan to host some internet service behind this router. It just keep crashing if too many connections established.

The customer service is even worse.

I have always ben pretty satisfied with the quality of SMC routers, until now. This router simply does not measure up in quality to its predecessors.

I started out by firing up the router and trying to configure it using the web interface. Already here, things went wrong. De firmware managed to confuse firefox and configuration with IE was slow and hung several times.

After finally managing to set up the router, it seemed as if the router sometimes just stopped transferring data in the middle of connections. This resulted in web sites failing to load, ssh connections hanging and all sorts of similar problems.

I found out that the signal of the router fluctuates a lot and sometimes just completely falls away (even if I'm sitting right next to it with my laptop). I'm not sure wether this is due to a bad (small) antenna or the firmware that comes with the machinery. Hide Full Review

I recoment this to anyone who needs a good router. It is quite easy to set up but did take me two days (im not that good with setting up internet related things on my pc) but i do think that it was easy to get running( eventually).
im srared too leave it plugged in all the time because of the worry that its gonna overheat! you could almost fry an egg on it! The help you get on the smc website is also one of the worse ever. There are no idiots guides ( or advanced guides) to setting up any part of the system apart from the software! I think ive had it for just under a year (maybe) and only today have i managed to get the WEP on it. Before today i had been inching my way up to the poin that my computers work on the network properly. getting the WEP activated but then not knowing how to add the password on. getting the password on but not knowing why it didnt work etc etc... I searched for a long tie on the smc website for a guide to SECURITY but could not find it. i wanted to send them an email asking personally how to set it up but couldnt even find a feedback page!! i couldnt even find my router on the malaysian page (and thats where i BOUGHT IT!) so basically i was forced into trial and error, and 10 months later i cracked it (well to be honest i hadnt tried to add it for most of that time) I only did add it because on the router page i saw that there were sometimes other computers logged onto my router... also I noticed lights flashing about at 2am when i was trying to watch tv with all computers off. What i am trying to say is that SMC SHOULD ADD A BLOODY GUIDE TO DOING EVERYTHING ON THEIR ROUTERS!!!!!
Other thjan that my internet on wirelessly connected pcs is almost as fast as on my wired pcs so i am happy with the product (only fully happy as of an hour ago, 10 months after purchasing it!). Overall a solid PRODUCT with TERRIBLE SUPPORT FOR SETTING IT UP!!!
ps if i could i would have put 0 for support because there was NOTHING TO HATE because there was NO SUPPORT!! Product was great though! Hide Full Review

This device is terrible. It has been crashing since I bought it, and the traffic load is not even average. I upgraded the firmware recently hoping that it would solve the problem and the crashing issue just increased and now the radio signal is fleaky. The support is terrible as well. In general I cannot name anything that this device can do that any other cheaper device would do better. Hide Full Review
