Digital Cameras : Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S60

After comparing cameras for weeks before buying, the one quality that clinched it was the quick capture time after pressing the shutter button. Sony cameras were the best of them all. How I hate waiting 3 seconds after I press the shutter, before I hear it click! I was at first hesitant about only having 2X digital zoom (most other cameras had more), but after playing with it, I realized that the incredibly sharp image from the Carl Zeiss lens would allow me to fake a higher telephoto length by cropping my pics tighter in Photoshop without losing any detail.
Got a 256mb memory stick, and rechargable AA batts, because without those the camera is handicapped.
I'm an old geezer used to SLR photography and lots of manual control, and picky about quality. This camera gives me all that manual control to get creative results (shutter priority/aperture priority) once I commit the instructions to memory! Hide Full Review

Bought it as my first camera and the ease of use is unmatched as far as understanding the features goes. I have looked for weeks at quite a few cameras, trying to stay within a certain budget but get the best deal (optical zoom vs. digital zoom, MP's, ease of use etc.) I use this camera for everyday purposes, take pic of my kids/family, take pictures for ebay listings and so on.

This a great point and shoot camers. It has tons of features that you'll find on much pricier cameras. It has very little shutter lag. As soon as you press the button you have your picture. The pictures are super clear and bright.I've had this camera six months with no problems. Thats why I like sony. The LCD is two inches and looks great.Its bright with alot of detail.It eats up alkaline batteries so purchase some rechargables and you'll be set. I now realize the advantage of the fast response. We had to take a photo of a newborn for a passport-- the rules, baby must be looking straight ahead, eyes open and looking at camera, mouth must be closed, ears visible and no parents hands in place---I'm not making this up. We tried two much more expensive cameras but the delay made the pictures worthless and then I tried my Sony--- bingo, welcome to the frequent flyer program. Hide Full Review
