HDTV & Televisions : Vizio P42 HDTV

I actually have the 50" model and love it so much I must rave about it. Precise picture qualty. Great color. Thin 4" depth. Shiny black frame. HDMI input. Pip. Split screen. About 6 inputs which includes 2 hdmi, 2 component, 2 svideo, and 2 rca. Built in audio speakers. Have it mounted on the wall, just beautiful! Friends rave about the pic and look of the flat panel all the time. Those of you that dislike plasma because of the exaggerated fact that they dont last, thnk again. These newer generation will last about 10 years when you watch about 6 hours of tv everyday. So in 10 years, when the bulb goes out, you have an excuse to get the new paper thin TVs. By the way, the previous reviewer said it was made in America. It's actually made in Asia but Vizio is an American company in Southern California. Hide Full Review

I received the P42 as a wedding gift and loved it the minute I put it up on the wall. For a couple of months I enjoyed a good quality TV at a moderate price. However, during the 3rd month of use I noticed, what I can best describe as pixel stamping of the menu screen, showing through in red and yellow dots. I have only used this TV to view standard cable and DVD films and nothing more, i.e. no video games. I called tech support and all I got was, "try reseting all settings." Needless to say, it was an exercise in futility and the problem did not even fade. I don't know if this is an isolated problem or if this is a product defect, but I would take this issue into consideration and maybe do some more research on the topic before dropping $1300. The picture on this TV is unreal on the better HD channels (I've noticed that it's actually the stations where the quality feally differs with HD). Bought this at Costco and I can't imagine having anything else. Has all the different inputs your heart desires. If you're smart, you'll buy one of these, save a ton of money and be the happiest person in the world! Hide Full Review

Stay away from this plasma! It worked fine for about 5 months until it started to shut itself off and then it was DEAD.

I tried to contact customer service for 2 days...no chance.

So many people had the same problems. They should recall this plasma tv. Hide Full Review
