This 32-bit PCI card is fully autoconfigurable upon power-up through the host computer's BIOS setup program. It supports 32-bit data transfer mode and early receive and transmit interrupt to eliminate I/O bottlenecks. And, it features bus-master architecture to reduce CPU utilization. The result is increased throughput.
This dual-speed card has a single RJ-45 connector for both data rates, making it simple and cost-effective to future-proof your network. SMC's 1255TX supports autonegotiation for automatic line speed detection supported by the attached device. Simply connect the card to an Ethernet hub or switch and it will operate at 10Mbps. When you need additional bandwidth, just connect the card to a Fast Ethernet device and it will automatically operate at 100Mbps. Featuring "Remote LAN Wakeup", the card allows MIS Administrators the ability to manage desktop resources effectively even with remote locations. The Optional Boot ROM socket provides additional flexibility by allowing network booting from diskless workstations. Advanced features include flow central and wired for management.
