An entry-level DVD player in Sony's line-up, the DVP-S330 does have some niceties unique to Sony: namely SmoothScan and SmoothSlow searches. These features make forward and reverse scanning less jerky and more natural-looking.
The DVP-S330 also automatically selects the soundtrack with the highest number of channels, which means that most of those annoying DVDs designed to default to the two-channel soundtrack will default to the 5.1-channel soundtrack with this player. Sony includes both coaxial and optical digital audio outputs, for compatibility with any Dolby Digital/DTS receiver. There's also an S-video output and a composite video output. This player features CD Text display, so you can see artist/track info from CDs encoded with such data. There's also a bit rate indicator and a bit rate history display, so video geeks can monitor the data content of their DVDs. The preprogrammed universal remote controls many brands of TVs, as well as the volume level of 8 brands of A/V receivers.
