Is there a way to control a computer remotely?? - Louie J i have a computer shop, most of my visitors would only use my internet to browse. i could turn it off, yes, but i don't want to waste my time turning it back on everytime a potential customer walks in. i would like to do this without using any thirdparty software if possible. is there a way? my OS: Winxp and i use wifi-router with my network. Best Answer: Do you mean that you want to turn on the computer (power on) remotely or do you mean just to open IE remotely. If you want to turn on your computer remotely (Power on) its called Wake on LAN. for this first off all your LAN card and motherboard BIOS should be capable of Wake Up on LAN. The best way to do that is to use a third party program like Radmin or even better RealVNC you can also use Windows's own remote desktop program but is crappy and when you remotely connect to am computer, the computer you connect to logs off automatically I don't know where Windows's remote program is located but you can create a new text document on the desktop and change it's extension to rdp... it works - Jonut

I don't really have a solution to your question, but I wanted to express caution in what you're trying to setup. Attacks on other sites, getting back at a previous employer, or other general illegal activity could be performed from your PC if not monitored. A 3rd-party utility to manage the connection might also help in the security department. If you don't expect the amount of traffic to be high and think the risk is low, then perhaps you can ignore this. I just wanted you to be aware of what some people might set out to do. - SirCharles

Remote administrator is a very good product. You can remotely use the other computer on your own. Just install the server version on your computer and the client or slave on the other which you want to control. you can even remotely monitor the other computers activities just as if you were watching your own. I would put a charge on computer use...like they do in the computer cafes...those computers are controlled so you can ask a computer cafe how they control their usage, and you have your answer...whether you charge for use or not... - Maggi

You have to use administrational/network tools or (more usually) use some form of remote desktop application. There is software for managing and accounting of Internet Cafes. - the_dt
