Srinivas S Can I use VoIP on my Wireless Router and UTstarcom-F1000 to make local and intl. nos., on my DSL line? - Srinivas S I know about talking using Skype and the likes using IP Comp. to Comp Calls. I am talking about VoIP, Internet to Land Phones. I use my SMC BARRICADE PLUS SMC7004WFW Router, connected to my SmartAX MT882 DSL Modem, 256 KBPS BroadBand connection. Do I have to have a SIP account to make a local call. If there are FREE SIP providers, please help me identify and configure my UTstarcom-F1000 VoIP phone. Can I use mu VoIP phone without using a SIP account to make local calls and if so How. I am in India, Please help me.
Best Answer: Your local internet provider has to support it. If yes, then your VoIP telephone company will send you a device to plug into your router, then you connect your phones into the device. Depending on what plan you get you may be able to make local and long distance calls under a flat fee. I am in the states, and I use SunRocket. For about $9/month I get unlimited local and long distance calls within the US, Canada and the US commonwealth of Puerto Rico. This also includes voice mail, call forwarding, etc. BTW, Skype will allow you to call from your PC to landline but you will have to pay for it. - veraperezp
Try skype. Visit http://skype.com and download/install it. You won't be disappointed! - pc93
