Intrfantom If you change the login in Active Directory, does it break the local folder on their box? - Intrfantom I need to change some people's login names to match their email (migrating to Exchange). So far I experimented on a couple users and just changed their login info on AD, and then had them logoff and logon as the updated login. It used their old settings for the new user; I'm just afraid since it leaves the local folder named as their old login that it will break when Exchange comes in. Example: Username was JohnS, but their email is John.Smith@yada.com... I go into AD, change login to John.Smith. Go to their computer, logoff JohnS and login as John.Smith. All the settings are the same as the previous login, and in Documents/Settings the folder is named JohnS instead of John.Smith.

It won't, but that's the hard way to do it. Just leave the login userid's the way they are and associate that user id with the exchange account. That's the way we do it. - The Psycho
It won't, but rather than change their log on you can just add the existing email address to the Exchange account as an additional smtp address. All you do on the email addresses tab in AD just click new and add an smtp address that is the existing one. You can put all kinds of temp addresses here too so if you want a disposable address for your website, add it here and you can delete it later. The reason I would do this over changing the login is the profile will still work but it will have a different name which will be confusing later. It is easier just to give the user both addresses. - Warren H
