onkyo tx-800 tuner amp trouble shooting? - Gina S This system i have is close to being about 18 years old. with bose speakers. still rocks with sound, well use to i tried to use it and the speakers wont put out loud sound. i do not believe it is the speakers. feel it may be the amp. speakers do put out some sound but very low. sounds like mono and not stereo.

Best Answer: I owned this receiver back around the turn of the '90s, and it was a pretty decent unit. It drove some mid-sized Cerwin-Vega speakers quite well. First thing to do is to check all of your connections to make sure they are secure. Your speaker wire connec- tion may be loose. Check both speakers. Perhaps the receiver (i.e. amp/tuner) has blown one of its channels and you're only getting sound from one of the speakers. If this is the case, you should either have it repaired which will be relatively expen- sive, or sell it on eBay or Craig's List as- is, and buy a new one like perhaps the newest version of what you have, which is the Onkyo TX-8011 stereo receiver. If you like your Bose speakers, that's fine, but perhaps you might consider getting some new speakers that may be easier on your amp to drive.
