why are my downloads from website very very slow? - bover Davey when i go to download files from website the speed is like 16 kb a seconds wich is very slow and it it takes 20 mins to down load a 17mb file but normaly (few weeks ago) it took like 3 mins what has happend hav ei hit osmethign rong lol please help

there are 3 things could made this problem 1- your internet conection and service provider 2- the web site u r downloading from which is having a huge traffic or low bandwidth "so this is the fastest speed can afford" 3- you might downloaded a program which causes u problems or a virus - curious 123

it maybe a due to the huge amount of ppl using the internet.. thus the average speed of the internet for everyone will slow done...or your computer might have gotten some adware that may also slow the internet down... u can use adaware or spybot search and destroy to scan for those and remove them.... - chewcy

what operating system? what internet provider (cable, DSl, dialup)? Is you pc infected with a virus or trojan? If windows, you can trun tcpview and see if you have any open connections http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/TcpView.mspx and if you do, that means something is running on your pc when it shouldn't. You could also be have network trouble where something is misconfigured and wasting all your bandwidth. If the slow speed is just one website, the problem is the website, not your computer.
