Zigeroid Samsung TX-S2782 Slimfit TV doesn't look as good as our standard tv... What are good picture settings? - Zigeroid What are the best picture settings for a Samsung TX-S2782 HDTV that will actually make it look like it's in HD? I got this TV about 4 months ago. However, we had a fire in our home and when I got back, it didn't look as good as it used to and our standard TV looks better than it. We switched from satellite to cable, but that didn't change anything. We then bought the exact same television but it still doesn't look as good as it used to. Any suggestions on the optimal picture settings? Could it be the cables could've been disturbed when they put in the new carpet? Thanks! :)
Best Answer: I suspect 2 things, first bet the "sharpness" control is set too high. On this TV it should be set to near off or about 10% of its scale. Second I recommend that you buy the Video Essentials DVD or the AVIA DVD, which will not only teach about TV settings but will give you test patterns and tell you how to adjust them. Or if you really want it to look good, go the www.imagingscience.com website, put in your zip code and hire an ISF guy to do an in home calibration. He will bring out a color analyzer (these are very expensive 4-8k range) and will spend about 3 hours making this thing look fabulous. The Samsung when it is ISF calibrated looks amazingly good. This will cost you about $350 for calibration. - James R G
Fire? Was the Standard TV in the fire also? Probably doesn't have anything to do with fire or carpet installers wiggling your wires, if it did.....try pushing the connectors back on so they are fully seated.... Betcha don't have a HIGH definition box, do you...... TODAY's TVs are BUILT for HI DEFINITION SIGNALS, not low definition signals....because the FCC said the NEW TVs still had to get the old Lo Def signals the entire manufacturing community complied.... They didn't have to make it PRETTY,only had to make sure you could recieve the Lo Def signal.... And your Low Def signal....is a crummy crummy signal....thus you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear....So, live with the Crummy crummy signal until they turn it off in a couple years. As for your TV, get some WINDEX, spray it on a cloth and go over your TV screen a total of 3 times, wiping dry after each time....if you have smoke film you should see the cloth get dirty..... - reggieman
Maybe something defect within your TV and need repair. You can call the service center to make sure about this. - WJ
