But windows takes a long to boot up and i keep getting program crashes with that message asking to send the information to microsoft. My pc specs are: AMD Athlon XP 1700+ ATI Graphics card (AGP) 20GB HDD (Maxtor) SoundBlaster (PCI) Onboard Ethernet etc. Windows XP Home Edition SP2 DVD/CD Rewriter (x1) Yamaha CD Rewriter (x1) CD Rom (x1) 2x Floppy Drives 350 Watt PSU
Best Answer: What motherboard? Check for bios updates. Patch windows to newest version (if you can). In fact check firmware update for all hardware... - Data Nully
Sounds like you up-graded from Windows 98. The format lost all the drivers. You may can get thes off the 98 CD and reinstall.....jr - R A W
welcome to Microsoft....you should do all the updates and make sure all your drivers are the most recent ones available. Windows loads a bunch of crap on bootup, there are probebly some things you don't need which if you turn off can make it quicker. If you just did a fresh install after a complete format, chances are 99% you don't have a virus...unless you've been sitting on the internet since the install without any virus protection. What programs are crashing? What did you install other than Windows XP Home?
Call Microsoft describing your problem. - abc123
You must have a virus I am sorry to say. But If you give me an e-mail address or an AIM screen name I will send you a McAfee Security System. - Devon Kosa
try doing all your updates as there may be some driver updates that you have not downloaded yet that are causing this. - turd ferguson
