How can I find the IP address of my printer? - kim-hwan@sbcglobal.net

Best Answer: Click Start,All Programs then Accessories and Command Prompt. Type ipconfig and enter. You will get a list of every Address on your network - Mike C

I would just use the net view from the command prompt to see it personally. Or if it is currently working then you could also look in the properties of the printer itself then to advanced then to ports and it should be a TCP/IP port with the IP address in it there as well. Or you may be able to print out a config page from the printer itself with the buttons. - Kevin

If it is a network ready printer it will have a menu button and you can see it and set it from there. If it is connected to your pc, it has no IP address. - Colinc

if your printer is hooked to your router, then login to the router through the web interface and look at your dhcp list in the connections. it will show you all equipment that is connected to your router that has acquired an ip from your router. your printer should be in that list if your printer is set for dhcp - Hoss

Well this kind of dirty way of doing it if the router lookup trick did not work is to ping the broadcast of your internal network and see if the printers print server responds back. i.e. if your computers ip address is right now 192.168.1.104 do this ping -t 192.168.1.255 to stop the ping close the window or hit control + c if your routers switch is not filtering it *MIGHT* talk back assuming it is on the same network. If it's not you may need to contact the printer manufacturer (or print server manufacturer if it is not integrated with the printer) and see what the defaults are assuming it has not already been changed. if the printer has a lcd screen on it you might be able to go through the menus on it and see what the ip is by going into it's network config or just by making the printer print off it's configuration page. - Charles W (Bloodwraith)

you should be able to print the configuration page out, it will list its name and IP address. you might need to go through the menu to print it. also you can go to network settings in the menu, and check it that way. - crutchduck

If the printer has a menu scroll through the options until you find print configuration. There will be a setting for the ip address. If it doesn't have a menu make sure the printer is on and hold down the power button until it starts printing a page. This will also print a configuration page. - Joe D

Is the printer getting a DHCP address? Look on the printer or your router. Depends on your printer, depends on your router. - phirephoto

Either print a test page from your PC or try printing a test printer configuration page from the printer. - Julie L
