Amy 31 how do I add a video to my Yahoo Small Business web site? - Amy 31 I am using FTP (whatever that is) CYBERDUCK, and have the files their in my File Manager, but I don't know how to add them to my web page. PLEASE HELP!
Best Answer: This web design stuff is hard huh? Ok, Amy. An FTP is a file transfer protocol. This allows you to download files to the server when you create web pages. And web pages are files, but the difference is.....well, they are web files. They have to be put in the right place and downloaded in such a way as not to interrupt the files code that makes a website function. This is the job of the FTP. So how do you do it? Not a clue, but here's the good news. All FTP's are pretty much the same and once you figure it out, the task will seem simple to you. To download using an FTP. you need first to load them onto the file list in the FTP...somehow. Somewhere, you have the option to put files in a list. This list is the one you want to use to download with. While you can change web files in the FTP, forget that for now. Just concentrate on getting them into the FTP. Once they are there, and you see them....send the little buggers. And see if it worked. If not, get with your web hosting provider and see if they offer FTP support and make sure you have the correct password and user account info to access the server for download. Remember, you can't break your website or your server trying this because your hosting provider can undo anything you mess up. So go get em! - mawduce65
