Flash is a type of solid-state electronic memory, and requires power only when reading/writing. Durable, lean, and power efficient compared to disk drives. Flash drives have no moving parts, so they take a lot more abuse, IMHO. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keydrive - ieopo
Flash drives (or memory keys) are small portable drives that you can carry around with you (mine is on my key chain). There are drives available from 128 megabytes all the way to 2 gigabytes. Thing to remember: flash drives don't take impact well, and being carried around can render them useless. Always back up your files onto a hard drive. - allykat1227

a flash drive is like a mini external hard drive. it is used to hold files that you dont want to waste a cd on burning them to. depending on the size they can hold quite a bit of info. very good if you are in school or do alot of paperwork on you pc for example. - jmjjls8183
