jalopy6080 Epson Stylus C84 Printer problem.? - jalopy6080 For the last two weeks I have been getting the message on the Epson status monitor 'parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer documentation' There is absolutely nothing wrong with my printer, it prints perfectly (it is 3 years old) but today the lights keep flashing and it won't print. How can I get it to print again?
Best Answer: This is epson's little thank you for your business, "screw you". What has happened is that you printer has a preset h\number of pages it will print before it decides it needs to be serviced by epson. This is regardless of whether or not your printer is printing fine or not. You can download a piece of software that will override this, it will also override your ink level and pretty much any other irritating feature epson has integrated. Be advise use this responsibly, if you run your printer with an empty cartridge you will damage the printer. http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html - smedrik
I think this guy had the same prob as you. It doesn't look good so I will break it to you gently. Its busted you need a new printer. - robdunf
This is a problem found in all inkjet printers. There is a place under the printer with a sponge to soak up the excess ink. Over time it gets filled. Replacing it is a difficult and messy job. Having it serviced cost more than a new printer. I would suggest you replace the printer with a CX7400 which is a scanner/copier/printer. It costs about $70 BEFORE any rebates (if any) at buy.com Epson.com is also having a July4 sale where you can get a cx9400fax or RX595 for $99. You can find cheap cartridges which work well at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp - yisgood
Down load the free utility from http://www.ssclg.com Among other things, it will reset the counters in your printer. The message indicates that the excess ink pads in the rear of the printer are probably saturated. They can be cleaned but be sure to wear old clothes and rubber gloves. - formersalt
yeah, its the same as these digital type writters, you have to replace a chip...try re-installing it - Blue Magic
Epson put planned-obsolescence into their printer parts. This is normal after a while, as the parts DO get worn. Email them to ask about replacement parts or service. If they say "no you have to buy a new printer", ask them strongly why they are so intentionally environmentally-unfriendly and if they'll pick the printer up at no charge for recycling. If they're unhelpful with this, tell them you don't like throwing away 90% of a printer because they can't design the other 10% to last long enough and tell them you'll be buying HP for the replacement (just to annoy them). HP are probably bad with their policies too, but consumers need to make such annoying, selfish manufacturers think. Because it's them who're messing up the planet and filling up landfill sites. - Didge
