I'll love you endlessly computer help? - I'll love you endlessly My computer wont start (im using a laptop to ask this question). i clicked to restart when i was done using it tonight and when it tried starting up a black screen came up saying "attempting boot from cd-rom" "attempting boot from floppy drive (a:)" "attempting boot from usb device' and then the usb device thing is under that again and underneath that is abunch of wierd symbols with the cursor at the end.....it has done this before but i dont really know what happened to fix it
Best Answer: Remove any disk from the optical drive (cd/dvd) and unplug any external devices (printer/ipod/etc..) and try to boot. If that doesn't work then on the first screen you get it will tell you what key you need to press to go to the setup screen(BIOS). It can be F1, F10, del, differs depending on manufacturer. Once you get to the setup screen you'll want to check if your HDD is listed, chances are there will be 2 devices listed, your DVD/CD and your HDD. If only one device is listed then you should re-seat the HDD. (Flip the notebook over, look for a panel that has an icon that looks like 3 disks, remove the panel then remove the HDD and then put it back in then try and boot). If that doesn't work then likely your HDD has failed and you need a new one. Good luck! - Detry
I would go into the Bios and change the boot menu to boot to HDD or Hard Drive. - aldaysoftwaresolutions
