yaybrittany Why Isn't My Epson RX595 Printer Detected During Installation? - yaybrittany I am using Windows XP. I followed the instructions by unpacking the printer, connecting the USB cable to the printer, turning on the printer's power, installing ink and paper, then inserting the printer's software CD. I made sure my anti-virus program was closed. When instructed by the software, I connected the USB cable to the computer. The software scanned for a while, then said that it could not detect the USB cable and said to make sure the power was on and the cable was plugged in, which it all was. Still it showed the 'searching for cable' screen. I did not touch anything. Eventually, this screen closed and it continued installing the rest of the software included with the printer. When it was done, the installation program closed, then a Windows Error popped up. "Printer not detected. Please turn on your printer and connect the USB cable to the computer and the printer." Why isn't this working?
Best Answer: It sounds as if the problem is the USB driver, not neccesarily the printer itself. Do other USB devices work? If not, in your system settings, check if there is a yellow asterisk next to the USB ports. If so, try deleting the USB port and letting windows reinstall it. Once you get your printer working, try http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp for cheap cartridges which work well. - yisgood
sometime you need to install the drivers first and connect the printer later try uninstalling the drivers and the software that came with the printer don't connect the printer install the drivers, and the software also usually you need to cancel windows xp that try to find "suitable driver" and stick with the driver that was supplied by Epson after the driver is installed it will prompt you to plug the printer. or just pug the printer usually it will work. - Ben Z
