Why does my computer do this? - bk7794 I put a linux disc -its bootable i know- and its non scfratched but what does it just take it read it and after awhile does nothing just nothing. Ablack screen

Best Answer: Did you try using that disc on another computer to verify that the disc is good? You may have used a bad disc or had an error in the burn process. If the disc is good on the other computer, then I suggest posting this question on a linux forum (preferably on a forum made for that distro of linux). Anyways, here are some other ideas... but I am not a linux expert by any means. Is the computer stopping and giving you a blank screen before it gives you ANY screens? If it is stopping sometime after you get to the screen that lets you choose to boot linux (just about every distro of linux has that screen when you boot off a cd), then try some different options (check its help screens on that boot manager for specific options). You may be having problems with the power management features or video options or something else.... by throwing in options that override the defaults, you may get around these problems. A post on a linux specific forum will help you more. - Me M

It is probably a version of Linux that doesn't have the complete set of hardware drivers on the CD and there for it will not continue. I found this same kind of problem about a month ago. Try a different version or distribution. - DavidSr P
