happy go lucky surround sound system? - happy go lucky wat do u think aboutthe new sony HTDDW7000 it has a total output of 1698 W just wondering if it is a good system b4 i go out and buy one
Best Answer: It may look impressive, but I would not buy an all in one system. It looks to me like they are trying to go for the more speakers must be better aproach. Almost nothing is recorded in 7.2. Get a good 5.1 Reciever and good speakers. For that price, you'll be able to buy high quality individual components, which will give you a much higher quality sound. Good brands for speakers are Klipsh, JBL, and Boston Good brands for recievers are harmon/kardon, Pioneer and Yamaha. Make sure you can listen to the speakers before you buy. If the display model shows signs of wear already, its probably no good. - j-match
It is not on the American web site and the austrialian site the specs are totally missing. I can't even guess what components this system uses but I can make a few guesses. For the $1400 cost of this system you can get yourself a fairly nice separate component set up that will sound far better. The web site doesn't even give a breakdown of the power but it does claim to use two 200w sub-woofers. Knowing Sony and the way they rate their stuff you'd be far better off with one decent sub than 2 poor ones. Likewise for the rest of the speakers. Unless you are a gamer go with a better 5.1 system rather than a 7.1. While I don't know what the rest of the system is like I do know Sony rates their sub-woofers at 10% t.h.d. which means your 200w sub is really worth about 50w of clean power. Sony makes some pretty good screens but is not known for their audio equipment with good reason. If I were you I'd keep looking and go out and listen to everything you can. Do not get this system, you can do much better for the same price. - lord_greatmane
