Regaltwo Before I buy one, could someone tell me if a lavalier microphone can be used with a Canon ZR 70? - Regaltwo
Best Answer: According to the Canon Web site, the ZR70 has two ways to add a microphone. There's a mic jack, which I assume is the usual 3.5mm phono plug, and there's a "hot" shoe. Canon makes a tiny shotgun mic for the hot shoe, but you would want the jack to use a typical lavalier mic. That input should be compatible with most consumer priced dynamic and electret mics, as well as some of the self-powered wireless mics (many of these hook in via a 1/4" plug, but would work with the kind of adaptor you can get at Radio Shack). I would expect these to work fine: http://www.amazon.com/AUDIO-TECHNICA-ATR-35S-Lavalier-Microphone/dp/B00006I51V http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102927&cp=&sr=1&origkw=microphone&kw=microphone&parentPage=search Pro-class lavaliers generally hook in via XLR jacks, or custom connectors to wireless systems, and would at elast need adaptors to work. - Hazydave
Yes, if its the cheap kind that uses a phono plug. Some wireless solutions use xlr which require a better camera like a GL/G/X from canon. - shdwsclan
