Jason L What is a DATA (D:) drive and more importantly can i save files on it??? - Jason L My (C:) drive is almost full but my (D:) has 80.0GB out of 80.6GB free so can i save files on it since it has so much free space???
Best Answer: Absolutely! What do you think its for? Just create a directory on the 80 gig drive and then move all your data files there. I would recommend that you COPY the files first to ensure you do not loose anything. Once you have proof everything was successfully move, you can clean the data off the C drive. - Jim
Usually a harddrive that has (D:) partition, has the System Restore files on it. If so, I do not recommend messing with it. In fact, if it does, I don't think you have access to it. It should be a locked partition. I suggest buying another harddrive, and using it as a Slave drive for more room. Or you can buy another harddrive, and install it into an external enclosure to use as an external harddrive. (Cheaper to buy the harddrive, and external enclosure. I've seen good external enclosures that use a USB cable for $30 bucks on TigerDirect.com Harddrives are cheap nowdays!) - Chickster
I would assume that is a partition that was created by the manufacture- used for drivers and system data recovery..... are there any folders already created/files there, that you didn't put there? If so, as long as you don't change/delete those, you can add info into a separate folder. It's always nice to have an external hard drive....... - Z
