zsnes321 Somone that knows a lot about CellPhones? - zsnes321 I bought a phone from a friend not too long ago and tried to connect it. I found out that the phone is on the verizon "Lost and Stolen" list and I cant connect it. Is there ANY way to ever use this phone. I've heard that phones are released after a year of being on the list, Is that true? Whats the process to take this phone off other than have him acctually go to the store and ask them to take it off? I mean i know people that work at third party retailers, would they be able to do anything about it? PLEASE dont give me bs about how i should go back to my friend and demand my money back.
Best Answer: Actually, no. I recommend getting a hold of the friend. They keep the ESN number on record of it being stolen forever. Luckily the police didn't call you when you tried to activate it. - Nick
Unfortunately, no. There is really no way for Verizon to just take it off. The only way it can be taken of is if the original user calls customer service, (must be an account holder) and requests for the ESN to be taken off the locked list. If it was reported by the insurance company, Verizon cannot do a thing. Asurion won't either because they need the phone to be returned. Sorry! - bears eat beets
no you cannot take a phone off the blacklist. - Jack of All Trades
The only way that the phone can be removed from the lost/stolen list is if your friend calls and has it removed. If he filed an insurance claim and got a replacement from Asurion then the ESN cannot be released from the lost/stolen list. The info you heard about it being released after a year is wrong. It is always a good idea to call ahead to check the ESN before purchasing! I hope that he can have it removed for you or give you your money back if he can't. - infadinglight
