that0neguy1 How can i connect my PS3 to the internet? - that0neguy1 I've had a ps3 for like a month now and i just cant figure out how to connect it to the internet. Ive tried on seperate occasions and I cant figure out whats wrong. I even talked to my friend who has his connected to the internet and we cant find anything wrong. So in detail im gonna explain what im doing. I have the same settings on my internet connection thing as him ( everything that is, is set to automatic and im not using a proxy server or anything ) I have a wired modem with 3 wires, 2 are for the modems power and 1s the ethernet cable that i connect to the ps3. To hook up my ps3 i just connect in the ethernet cable. But then when i try to test it, it says it cant confirm my IP address cause it timed out. And i already know that to use the internet i have to sign up for the ps3 server, which i cant cause i have to pass that test thing first. What could the problem be?Could it be my settings?Isit cause my modem only has 3 wires and cant use internet on the comp and ps3 same time?
Best Answer: Try this. Plug your modem into your PS3. Then, unplug your modem from the outlet for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in, give it a minute and then try to connect via the PS3. It needs to give the PS3 a new IP address, since I take it you're using the one cord for both the computer and PS3. You'll need to 'reset' it(the unplugging thing) anytime you switch between the two. I highly recommend a wireless router. It makes things much easier. - ★Fetal★ ☆And ☆ ★Weeping★
yeah dude my advice is get a router that gives off wireless internet signals.. that's easier - TheRevenant

if it doesnt work why dont u scan and see all the networks if its wireless .or you can use the ethernet cable that came with it.you should go to google and type ps3. and the second one will say us.playstation.com click that i think it can helpp u. - Johny C
if you have a modem you dont need to connect wires because the ps3 has built in wifi just turn the internet settings to wireless on the ps3 and it will work - Steve
I've had this problem. All I did was disconnect the USB cord off my modem and it works. Email me and tell me what happens but if you already did that than I'm not sure what you can do. If the internet works on your computer than there's a problem. - Melanie b
