AL My mac is automatically set up in DOS mode How do you change this? - AL My mac says when i download anything that the application cannot be run in DOS mode but what the hell is that and how do i change it? The only thing that it can run is MSN but nothing else, what should i do?
Best Answer: It means you are trying to run a program designed for Windows on OS X. Since it isn't designed to run on OS X it goes "This is not Windows, therefore it is DOS, therefore I shall show an error to that effect". To run Windows software on a Mac you need to install Windows. Either through a virtual machine (such as VMWare Fusion) or by duel booting (through Boot Camp). You can also look for an alternative software package that is designed for OS X. In the case of MSN Messenger, a good choice is Adium. http://adiumx.com/ - David D
