Bill B A printer question...Help please? - Bill B I don't have a printer at home, so I made a print image using "Print to a file" option. Now at work, how do I send it to the printer to get it printed?
Best Answer: This can be a bit tricky. If the original source is an image like a jpg or BMP, why dont you just bring the image to work and print it there? The only reason to do something like this is if you have an application at home like print shop which you dont have at work and want to print a print shop file without installing the program at work. In that case, install the same printer at home that you have at work (not the physical printer but the driver for it) then print to file, then copy the file to a flash drive, bring it to work, put it on a machine connected directly to a printer (it probably wont work over a network), go into a DOS prompt and enter copy/b filename > prn: This used to work in DOS days with a parallel printer. I dont know if it will work under windows with a USB printer. There is probably a better way. Install a free PDF driver like bullzip http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php This will let you print to a pdf file. Then bring the file to work and print. PDF is pretty much universally recognized. - yisgood
you will have to email it to your email, that you can get permission to open at work, or if you are connected to your Office network you can have it sent right to the printer at work and it will be printed by the time you get in... - theojudjr
You would need to be connected to the office network to do that. Which I doubt you are from home, unless you are one of the lucky few who can work from home. If that's the case, just connect your computer to the network printer via Add a Printer in the control panel. The way that I advise however, and what is probably more likely is to put the file you want to print on a floppy and just bring that to work. From there you can just take the file you want to print, get it off the floppy or cd, or flash/thumb drive. Then you just open it up and print it. - mr_maclir
