☆azn_shorty☆ How do i fix this problem? - ☆azn_shorty☆ the internet started acting funny so i tried restarting my computer. Now the screen has said "windows is logging off" for the past few hours. What is wrong and how do i fix it..fast? i need to fix it or i'll get in trouble D: help me pleease
Best Answer: push the power button for about 8 seconds to force it to shut down. then restart during restart, choose "last known good configuration" if prompted to choose something otherwise, just log in like you always do next time when a website gets stuck, open up task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and go to the processes tab (not the applications tab) and then end the process which says the name of your browser (internet explorer is "iexplore.exe" and firefox is "firefox.exe.")... this will force your internet browser to exit and won't give you that annoying "end now" dialog box when you end it from the applications tab... lol dont worry, myspace wont show up again when you restart! good luck you're not in trouble haha =D - Fob819
Dont panic! its ok, its just got stuck because the process couldnt end before windows started shutting down. Just hold in the power off button for a little while on the base til it switches off or switch off at the plug. You dont want to be doing that very often but it wont hurt this once :) - maria t
just unplug it wait plug it back in a reboot should sort it - vadajoe1
Pull the plug at the wall socket......leave for a few minutes....then power up and restart your pc,hopefully that will do the trick - new2pc
Cut the power to the computer......Pull the plug from the socket! Wait for about a minute.....Then switch the computer back on. If you're on a laptop and can't cut the power supply because it has a battery. Press and hold the power on button for a few seconds....This will turn the laptop off. After waiting for a minute or so....Turn the computer back on and everything will be fine. - PSEF
If thats the case how did you manage to write this question? Just curious if your screen has frozen - 18_Inch_Guns!
Only ways I can think of are to leave it and hope it shuts down OK after a while, or to hold down the power button on your computer (not the monitor) for a few seconds to do a forced shut down. That second method isn't great for your computer though and can result in loss of data, definitely anything you were working on and didn't save before you shut down. I've never had anything bad happen from a forced shut down though... - Hibernated
Turn it off by the switch.Click F8 a few times when you switch it on and move to last configuration that worked.Or click start -All Programs and go to Accessories.Move across to System Tools on the drop down and System Restore on that drop down.Click a time to set it to when it worked ok.Day before. - fiddler
