Um I may suggest you to check the battery, and bring it to local computer store to fix it. But before that, may I ask that you have changed you CMOS setup? I mean like when the computer boot up. Did you ever try to press 'Delete' or 'F2'? Because if you did and restart, the CMOS sometimes get wrong. Um I don't really know exactly, what's going on. But try to get to your local computer store to exactly see what it really look like. - super.xtra
It sounds like the CMOS battery is dead. How old is your computer? The CMOS is a little memory chip that holds all the BIOS settings. The battery for it keeps a little electricity running through it so it doesn't lose all the settings. When the battery dies, the settings get lost, and the computer uses some default settings or just searches the hardware at boot-up. - gl6366
Hi there Sounds like your CMOS battery has failed and is not storing this data. Your computer store should be able to sort this out for only a few dollars. Good luck - Gary C
