how do you update a graphics card? - Beth do you have to buy a new graphics card for your laptop or can you just update it on your laptop. if you can how do you do it. thanks for your help

Best Answer: Your graphics card specification will always remain the same for a given card. It will have a set speed, memory capacity and various capabilities. You can update the driver (software that talks to your graphics card) which will optimize your card for best performance. Go to the manufacture's site and look for support/drivers and download the latest version for your card. If you have a desktop PC you can upgrade the actual card - which means pull out the old, and slap in the new with better specifications. For laptops it's harder due to their smaller form-factor (size of parts). They are generally not upgradeable by the user. - gastrogeek

Aside from buying a new one, you could sometimes overclock your vcard especially if you already had a money to replace it, because overclocking reduces its life expectancy - dyakiston
