rlezama7 is this printer a good one? - rlezama7 Is a laser jet hp 2600N a good printer? Is it high quality printing?
Best Answer: Yes, HP Laser Jets are really nice, It has a huge monthly output of like 25000 pages, has 1200 x 1200 dpi color printing, and you are gonna find that the laster quality is outstading. I work in a Staples Copy and Print Center with Laser machines and they are really nice, plus the fact that you wont be spending a bunch on ink cartridges. - chuckylovesalpine

While print quality is fantastic in office documents, they're not the greatest at printing photos. Most reviews report varying degrees of banding but the "n" means it got a built-in network card and that's definitely handy! Before you go out and buy this printer, be forewarned that they tend to have problems with the toner density sensors which results in vertical banding and color inconsistencies. It's an extremely annoying issue and no one seems to want to acknowledge it exists, no one except for the thousands of people that have bought these printers. Having experienced this on a 2600 and a 1600, I've found there's an HP service note describing the problem and how to fix it. It's a warranty issue that only an authorized HP repair facility can resolve, so be sure to hang on to your receipt. Consider that the outright purchase price is less than the cost of a full set of replacement cartridges and you'll understand why HP could care less about resolving this problem. If you're considering using ultra-cheap compatible or generic refilled cartridges, make sure you're getting the highest quality toner and make sure you can return the cartridges if they don't work properly. These printers are extremely fussy, so expect that very few of the cheaper compatible cartridges will perform well. You may be stuck using only OEM original HP cartridges, even then, the problem still occurs, it's just not quite as noticeable. Regardless of the printer you choose, you should be able to find factory remanufactured toner cartridges that meet or exceed the manufacturer's specifications and that provide their own warranty against any damage to your printer.
