Media Room? - yung1 I'm looking to move house and want to put in a media room. The whole shebang with block-out-light blinds, projector, leather recliner chairs with drink holders (a necessity), surround sound. But I need to know where to start. What stores would be able to provide these things and help me plan the room?

Best Answer: Well i'm not sure on the fine details you want but i would start with what is most important to your entire setup. As boring as this may sound the first thing you have to do is have a layout your room correctly. Especially with a projector, you will need ample space for the size of picture you want to project. Also the shape of the room really makes a difference for sound, this also goes for type of flooring as sound may echo depending on materials in the room. Make sure you paint this room a darker color as the light from the projector will reflect of light surfaces. Don't buy your cables from a bestbuy or any store like that as they are way over priced. People will tell you that price matters when it comes to cables, this is false. First decide on a budget. A full setup can easily run $50k-100k for equipment, curtains, comfy chairs, etc. You can also just do it stages as well. You can go to most home theater stores - not Best Buy - and they'll be able to help you design your theater room, starting with bare floors and studs if necessary. - PoohBearPenguin
