Question and Answers

therrealbattlesix How do you prevent DVD Video cameras from skipping? - therrealbattlesix I bought a Samsung SC-DC173U DVD CAMERA RECORDER and once in a while, the video will skip. This gets really annoying and was wondering if there is anything to stop this from happening. Thank you very much!
Best Answer: That's a problem with DVD (and to a lesser extent HDD) camcorders... if they take a bump during recording, they'll skip. This was never much of an issue with tape based recorders, and of course, it's completely a non-issue with flash-based camcorders. Generally good camcorder practice will certainly help here. Shoot from a tripod when you can, use a monopod if you can't use a tripod, brace yourself on a wall, tree, rock, whatever when you can't use the monopod, and in general, don't bump yourself, or bump into other things, while you're shooting. But that's about it... anyone who's used a portable or in-car CD or DVD player knows first hand that, even with buffering, you can make your player skip. Same thing here. - Hazydave
