Lilly Need a new printer machine? - Lilly I have a Officejetk60 printer It's pretty old.. But i have a vista computer and when i scan something the image isn't very clear. Would a new printer scan my image clear? If so, what would you recommand?
Best Answer: If the scanner isn't clear it could be the bulb is getting dim, the glass is dirty, or you need an updated driver. But if it's an old printer, it's probably time to replace it since inkjet printers have a finite lifetime. Eventually the ink tank which holds the excess ink that doesn't make it to the paper gets full and then it stops working. I would recommend the Epson CX8400 scanner/copier/printer recently at circuitcity.com for $60 including shipping. It does beautiful scans and prints. For a year Epson will express-ship a replacement should you need it. Epson ink is expensive but you can get good cheap new cartridges (not refills) at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp for $25 a set which even includes an extra black. - yisgood
The Epson printers allow you scan in three different modes. If you want clear scanning, this is the way to go. You have Auto mode, Home mode and Professional mode. I don't mess with the Professional mode because I don't know anything about the RGB settings and all the photo settings, so I use the Home mode, where I can increase the DPI. According to the specs for your printer, you need a A-I-O with fax. I would recommend the CX9400F or CX9475 (wireless). They both have a high speed fax (12 pgs in under 1 minute), print, copy, scan. Four individual ink cartridges, which are pigment, not dye. So your prints are waterproof, even on plain paper. Memory card slots, LCD screen for viewing/editing pictures and you can restore old faded photos. This printer does everything. - vinapatt
