Mr Brainz Unused disk space on my mac? - Mr Brainz I have 80GB of unused disk space on my mac. It's NOT part of my Mac OS X partition but seperate. How do I combine them and add the 80gb of my mac os x? I have a imac.
Best Answer: Boot to your OSX install disk and under the Utilities Menu, You can use Disk Utility to create an image of your HD to an external HD. Then delete the partition on your HD and create a new one that includes the 80 gb. Then restore from the external HD the image backup you just created. Voila... you have combined the free 80 gb with your existing drive. OR... You can just use the Disk utility to create a second 80 gb partition and you'll have what appears to be two HDs. This way is easier. - poebassman
