viper_shark_69 Do 2-channel amps give more power to each speaker than 4-channel amps? - viper_shark_69 What is the difference between a 2-channel 250W amp and 4-channel 250W amp? I have two 60W RMS front speakers and two 90W RMS rear speakers. With a 4-channel, it would be just over 62W each speaker. With a 2-channel, does it means the front each gets 125W(Which would blow my front ones) ?
Best Answer: To fried or not to fried the speaker depends on the RMS power of the amp. If the 2 chan amp have 250W RMS then the power is divided by half for each channel. It typically writes something like 1X250W RMS and 2X125W RMS. The same goes to the 4 channel. If you hook all the 4 speakers into the 2 channel amp, then each speakers to my best understanding will get around 62W of power. For the best result, i recommend you of using using a 4 channel amp for your component speakers. - -TeRenCe- -
usually the amp will say 250x2 or something like that but ifi ti 2 channel it splits the max wattage and then if you runn 2 off of 1 channel it will give each speaker half so if it is 250 watts a channel it will give each speaker 125. - BLaBla
