Best Answer: To help speed up your computer 1.Scan for Spyware and other malicious programs. 2.Defrag hard drive 3.Delete all temporary junk files 4. Fix registry errors. 5.Uninstall any program you no longer use or have never used. 6.Turn off too many start up programs. 7. Install more RAM or memory. 8 install a faster processor. 9. Check for program conflict make sure everything installed is compatible with Windows and you have only "ONE" Anti-Virus program/spyware program and firewall. 10. Make sure you have a good connection. 11. Install CCleaner it can delete junk files and fix registry errors. 12. If you have too much install on your hard drive like music and other stuff then go buy one of those little USP drives and store your stuff on that to make more room on your computer. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ - DangerousStorm70
1. You can't click on the Internet. The Internet is a worldwide network of computers. Internet Explorer is a program, called a "browser", which enables you to display sites on the Internet. It is NOT the Internet. 2. YA is a lousy place to get help on computer problems. You'll get no shortage of answers, but the problem is, nobody can really help you without getting a lot more information from you. That means asking you questions, and getting answers from you, which may lead to more questions, etc. YA just doesn't work for that kind of thing. 3. For REAL help, I suggest http://www.bleepingcomputer.com They have a REAL forum there, where you can get help much more easily than on YA. 4. You may just need to clean things up. In Internet Explorer (IE for short), click on "Tools", then "Internet Options", then on the General tab, then look for a button that says, "Delete Files". Click on that. 5. Next, defrag your hard drive. First, empty the Recycle Bin. Then open a Windows Explorer. Find your C: drive. (If you don't see it, look under "My Computer" by clicking on the plus sign next to it.) Right click on your C drive, then select "Properties". Now, click on the "Tools" tab. Click on the button that says, "Defragment Now". This might take overnight, so do this before you go to bed. Defragging is something that should be done every now and then. Once a month is probably good for most people. - skeptical
You may need to update your computer, especially on a mac, but you may have a lot of excess files on it, try deleting some, and if you get software updates, install and restart your computer afterwards - alybey97
Make sure it's completely loaded before you click anything. If you have AIM or a Spyware or Virus software, they will usually pop up when it's done loading. You can try def-ragging, which will make your computer faster. Heres an actricle on how to def-rag: http://windows.about.com/od/maintainandfix/ss/defragment.htm Kinda long, but it will work. - Mrs. Ron Weasley.
The life cycle of Windows is about 18 months before you need to reinstall it. And, internet explorer sucks massively by the way. - FAIL
Sounds like it just needs a service to be honest. PCs would need s service if they are used allot as often as 6 months if they are hammerd by a whole family. For average users 12-18months is normally ok to make sure the computer is in nice working order. Its nothing you may have done wrong, or it could be a virus. Before you take it to be serviced. do some anti virus and anti spyware scans see if it speeds up. if not then get a professional to give it a once over. - Kalacia
I think it is either because of tons and tons of downloads. Too many programs installed, a virus, or something that i probably cant think of. - Computer G
Well, there could be multiple causes. Do you have lots of files or programs on there? Music files especially take up alot of space. What OS are you using? - Dragonix842
