Seawitch Is the home Computer addictive? - Seawitch 'With a computer you will solve all the problems you never had before you got a computer' my brother warned me some years ago when I decided I get one of these and learn to use it. The amount of time I spend on line is defiantly disturbing my life as well as changing it, I'm not getting things done that should be done I'm forever 'needing' to be on line! How do you feel about it? Your thoughts....
Best Answer: I agree entirely, I`m sixty years old, and I`m definitely not getting done, the things I should be doing, due to being on line too much. I do the necessities like cooking etc, but there are lots of things I am neglecting, like the garden, decorating and other stuff. There is a saying I heard some time ago, and I`m beginning to believe it`s true. "Clean house, broken computer" Sometimes I wish mine would break down, but the problem is, I`ve got a couple of spare ones. I must add though, that in the three years since I first switched on a computer, it has saved me a fortune in things like car insurance etc. It has also improved my knowledge,I like to keep my brain active, and sites like this help, as in searching for answers that I`m not quite certain of, for other people, improves my understanding of different subjects. EDIT. Just had a look at Colanth`s answer, I often promise myself I won`t switch on the computer until I`ve completed something that needs doing, but that usually falls by the wayside. Hmmmm, am I addicted? I`m beginning to think so. -
I spend at times 6 hours a day on my computer. Till a person reads all the mail deletes all the spam that comes because most people won't delete the addresses before they forward tings to a dozen others who in turn do the same thing till you are spread all over the world, read my comics, answer questions ,read the news. What else is left in life!

I forced myself to not get online today until I did something I've been putting off every week for about 3 months. Tomorrow, I'm not getting online until I've done some work on my blog that needs doing. If I didn't do things like that, I'd spend all my idle time on the computer. Addicted? No more than the wino who sleeps on subway gratings is addicted to alcohol. (IOW, yeah, big time.) - Colanth
