Why won't electric stuff work on cigarette lighter of 1998 Pathfinder? - Gage W This is really confusing. The cigarrette lighter works. It gets hot like it's supposed to. I don't smoke, so that's unimportant. If I try to put some kind of power adapter for an iPod or a portable DVD player or anything else, it never works. Why would the lighter work but electric things not work? I've replaced the fuse, and all of the adapters I have tried work in any other vehicle but mine.

Best Answer: There's nothing wrong other than the devices you're plugging in aren't making contact inside the socket. It may be that you need to push it in a little harder. - sparky3489
