Question and Answers

taylor.pingouin I have the new Windows Vista except now I can't find the "Add/Remove Programs"? - taylor.pingouin It used to be in the Control Panel, but now its not there. I was stupid enough to run a random Youtube downloader (no chance of fixing that now. maybe next time I'll be less stupid) and now I'm trying to get rid of that from my computer entirely since its only been there for 5 minutes. But I can't find the Add/Remove Programs icon! Also, if I do find it (which I hope I will...) does it get rid of it from my computer completely? If there is a virus, I don't mean that, but will that program be wiped from my computer?
Best Answer: Add/Remove Programs was renamed to Programs and Features. It will get rid of the Youtube downloader, however if there was a virus, the virus may have been ported off to another location. In that case you would have to run a virus scan. Trojans are nasty suckers. - Aeristes
Type appwiz.cpl in Start->Run. No matters which version of windows you are using. - Hassan
The Add/Remove Programs has been renamed to Programs and Features in Windows Vista. This applet will have the same functionality as Add/Remove Programs in Windows XP and earlier editions. If the program is a virus, uninstalling it in the Programs and Features applet may not completely remove it. I would use Avast Antivirus (www.avast.com) and perform a boot time scan to ensure you have a clean computer after the uninstall.
go to start>control panel>programs and features>uninstall program - Marty W
Just because you've used a download tool does not make you stupid. The feature you're looking for is still in the Control Panel. It's just been renamed "Programs and Features". - deanyourfriendinky
