Jamie E Updating Ram in my computer help!? - Jamie E I aint really a computer Wizz but I think this mite be an easy job, I am just wondering what information I need before I update my ram, I know ive got the following Mainboard : Micro Star MS-6567V2 Chipset : SiS 645DX Processor : Intel Pentium 4 @ 2533 MHz Physical Memory : 512 MB (1 x 512 DDR-SDRAM ) Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 Just so you know I am using windows XP, is there any kind of ram I should be choosing?
Best Answer: The mainboard provides 3 sockets for 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM (Double In-Line Memory Module) modules and supports the memory size up to 3GB. You can install PC2700/DDR333, PC2100/DDR266 or PC1600/DDR200 DRAM modules on the DDR DIMM slots (DIMM 1~3). You can download the manual for your mainboard from here: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=3467&type=manual Read the section on memory. -
You can go to crucial.com to find out how much of what type memory your system uses and how much more of what type you can add. http://www.crucial.com/ You don't have to buy from them, most times newegg and tiger direct are cheaper or you can get it at your local office supply or computer store. - pdl756
Just go to http://www.crucial.com and do a scan. - Nayomie
I thinks you should get the same type of ram as you are using in the other slot. It should be of DDR and not DDR2. whats the capacity of the RAM are you expecting to Upgrade to??? - yyyssss
