Katarzyna ‡ Starbreeze Will more RAM make my computer run better? - Katarzyna ‡ Starbreeze My system says that it needs at least 500mb of RAM to operate efficiently, but I only have 191mb. The only reason I ask this is because there have been a lot of people saying that RAM doesn't help at all. I don't have the money now for a new computer, but can't stand how my computer acts. Almost unusable.
Best Answer: Install more RAM. It will help with multitasking. What happens is when your computer runs out of RAM, it starts writing data to the Hard Drive in the form of a swap file. Well, writing to, and accessing from the Hard Drive is hundreds of times slower than writing to solid state RAM, thus running low on RAM will considerably slow down your computer. To find out what speed and type of RAM is required for your computer, you can goto http://www.crucial.com and use their system scanner. - korgrue
Yes more ram will help. I think a larger processor is what you need as well. Which means a new PC. Cost less to buy bigger and better than to try to upgrade an old system as yours. Yours is unable to use today's faster programs. Your pc has a limit on what upgrades will fit. Save your pennies and buy the HP VooDo dual quad dual core liquid cooled. Top of the line for years to come. This pc is so fast you will need two sets of hands to type and four eyes to look. Great multi media pc. Games, word process, music, photos, Every thing I wish for in my next purchase. Good luck. - kakakos
