Best Answer: to answer your question you cannot. BluRay and DVD are completely different technologies. so you will need a blu ray drive for your computer. but my advice would be if you have a hd capable tv just hook up a computer to it and use that as your player. it will save you hassle of burning and stuff and in the long run itll be cheaper. check out home theater pcs from google or something, I'm building one for my place. -
No, you cann't, normal dvd burner can't play blu ray video. If you want to watch HD videos on DVD player, at least, you must have a divx/xvid DVD player, then you can create Divx/Xvid Video DVD from the HD videos, and watch it with the divx/xvid DVD player. Create Divx/Xvid Video DVD, you can try RZ DVD Creator, you can download RZ DVD Creator from here: http://www.rzdvdcreator.com/ Hope it can help you. - John Mik

It is possible to burn a Blu-ray compatible disc on a DVD-R, like if you have a high definition camcorder or off the air HDTV captures. Obviously it can't store as much as a real Blu-ray disc, but it'll be in full high-definition, not limited to DVD video resolution. These discs won't play in regular DVD players, but should work in computers that are good enough to handle Blu-ray quality video. - Wombat
>can you burn a blu ray with a normal dvd burner< No. >if you are using software like nero or roxio and you want to make a blu ray disc...< The software you have makes no difference. If you don't have a blu ray writer, you aren't going to write a blu ray disc. Period. - Stephen M
