Question and Answers

Now that all TV is digital what are the all of those transmitter towers used for? - "Z" Since we've all made the big change to digital TV and don't have to have antennas on our roofs any more. What are they using those transmitter towers they have put up all over the country for?
Best Answer: The government uses those towers now to broadcast mind control waves to its citizens... LOL!! I'm amazed at some of the questions here and yours is one that I will have a laugh about most of the day. - Stephen M
Still used for TV broadcasting and other services. The change to digital just changed some equipment in the shack at the tower base, and maybe an antenna, not eliminating broadcasting altogether. In odd cases, some towers may have been demolished because they were too old to upgrade, in which case a new one is usually installed nearby or at another site. - classicsat
you still need antennas to grab the digital signals, preferably a UHF one since it is much smaller and most chaanels are uhf in dtv. - mike
That's for all the digital TV transmissions going over the air. All they did was add Digital transmitters, then remove the analog transmitters, and change the frequency. - TV Tech 1
I'm fairly certain they use existing transmitter towers to broadcast the digital signal.
