As "Canada" stated, there is no best, just some more suitable to a given purpose. For both documents and photos (for home use) I highly recommend the Kodak ESP series of printers. Printing is fast, photos are lab quality and their ink has the highest fade resistance (permanence) in the industry. The other reason I bought one was because of the much lower operating costs. Their original kodak replacement ink tanks sell for about half of what other manufacturers do. I saw the ESP-3 at walmart with ink tanks for $89 recently....pretty good deal. - some-yank
