That one chick Computer monitor is messed up, what do I do? - That one chick My computer monitor has gradually gotten worse starting yesterday. It had lines that would appear on the monitor and it seemed like something was wrong. Then it would crash and show the blue screen. Now it's gotten to the point where a weird pattern has appeared on my monitor and I can't see anything. I did see a message before everything was obscured. It said the nvlddmkm display driver stopped responding but has successfully recovered. I've tried restoring the monitor to it's factory settings too and I even tried a system restore. Nothing is working. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Best Answer: The NVL message you got Could mean up to 3 things. 1st. I'd take an educated guess that your Video Card is Failing. 2nd. Could be a hardware failure in your Monitor but it's unlikely 3rd. Could be fixed With a new Updated driver. Start Computer in safe by restarting the computer and taping F8 till you get the "safe" mode options. Choose the one that says safe mode with networking. NVl only Exists with Nvidia Video Cards.. So it's a Safe bet tht if you went to Nvidia.com and downloaded a new driver for the video card you have it may resolve itself> If it does not you have a video Card hardware failure. -
This is nothing to do with your monitor. This is to do with your nVidia video card. Have you tried to start the computer in Safe Mode, by pressing the key on your keyboard when the the display changes from the BIOS screen or the manufacturers screen? Try to get the latest drivers for your bideo card from nVidia or the computer manufacturer. - Phlegmboy
Make sure the monitor is not at fault first (borrow one) if it is still the same then your video card could be bad (possibly heat related)
it could be a virus or a bad screen. if its a laptop take it somewhere and have someone look at it. if its a desktop then try attaching another moniter to it and see if it works. if that monitor doesnt work then its a virus. - mlphils
