Question and Answers

What's a Good Film SLR for Class? - Not Canon or Nikon; the McDonald's of cameras.
Best Answer: Aside from Canon and Nikon, any from Pentax, Olympus and Minolta will do very well. For photography lessons, the mechanical cameras would be enough. If it had a working and accurate lightmeter, that would be a big bonus and will help you learn faster. Spotmatic, MX and LX are some of the favorite models from Pentax. - keerok
Since I recently answered your question about film for the Minolta X-700 you said you'd ordered I'm declaring this question as redundant. Order yourself 10 rolls of Kodak Ektar and start enjoying your X-700.
Canon and Nikon both make/made good film cameras. There's no need to exclude them. Minolta ST, Olympus OM, Pentax K, (fill in the numbers) are good film cameras. If you want to get less "Mcdonalds" you can get Contax, Yashica, Chinon, Fujica, Rollei, etc. Konica apparently made nice lenses but their bodies don't seem reliable (I have two that don't work). Canon FD bodies (not eos) are cheap and reliable. - mister-damus
