Question A Why aren't my deleted files showing up in my Recycle Bin? - Question A Recently I've deleted GIGS of files, videos ad pictures off of this computer. But before I did that a week ago I went to.. Control Panel > Appearance an Personalization > Folder Options > View and them unticked the "Hide extensions for known files types" box. I thought that was the issue, anyways I ticked it back and files are still not going into th recycle bin. Where are they? How do I fix this?! THANKS
Best Answer: Go to your desktop, find the Recycle Bin icon, right click on it and select properties. Make sure the custom size of the recycle bin is correct. Also make sure the option to directly delete is not selected. If you delete GIGS of files that probably exceeded the limit of the custom size and so they were directly deleted. -
Hide extensions for known files types has nothing to do with it. If you deleted gigs at a time, your Recycle Bin is set to use a certain amount of disk space, if you delete a ton of stuff at one time anything that goes over that specified Recycle Bin size will not show in the Recycle Bin. My guess is that there is currently stuff in your Bin and it is full. If you want to recover deleted items try the following http://www.piriform.com/recuva
right click on "recycle bin"-----properties---untick "Do not move files to recycle bin" by ticking "custom size"----press "ok" and u r done - Gagi
Right click on your Recycle Bin Select Properties Ensure that the "Do Not Move Files To The Recycle Bin. Remove Files Immediately When Deleted" box isn't checked. If it isn't checked then I'm afraid I don't know. - crimson.gh0st
It's either you set your settings for delete: delete without going to the recycle bin. Or you didn't delete them. Or if it's on a disk or a flash drive they don't go to the recycle bin. - imatsfo@sbcglobal.net
