what is a print spooler and how do I turn it on, for a printer? - I keep getting subspooler turned off pop-up every time I torn on cp.
Best Answer: Go to Start / Run and type in "services.msc" without quotation marks, then press Enter or click OK. In the window that opens (Services) look for "Print Spooler" on the right Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties". Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service". Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them. Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go. Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately. The Print spooler depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Is this service disabled? Go to services.msc look for RPC. Check state: Automatic - Richard J
the quickest way, is click on start, the run In the run box, type in services.msc and enter Scroll down to Print Spooler, right click on it and choose start that should restart the spooler, unless there is a corrupt job in there, which may stop it again, usually a restart of the Computer might fix that - jcrummett
A print spooler is part of your operating system that accepts and stores print jobs, feeding them to the proper printer when that printer is ready to accept the print job. Certain printer "drivers" will install their own print spooler programs to replace the one that came with the operating system. My best guess on this is that you need to reinstall the drivers for your printer.
