Installation problems.? - Darkest_Tempest Hi My computer won't let me install ANY software or games. All it says it is corrupted. I tried installing it on my friends computer and it worked perfectly. I have all the requirements: Ge force 6400 512mb direct x 9+ driver 3gb ram When ever it starts installing about half way it stops and say "The file is corrupted". i have tried chckdsk but it still doesnt work. plz help out

Best Answer: rather than just chkdsk on its own did you run chkdsk /r and then chkdsk /f - as it does sound like a problem reading from the hard drive. also worth running a free app called process explorer - then stop any processes that are in red - if you find any download and run malwarebytes or some other free antimalware software (some malware stops applications being installed to protect itself against being removed) - mike H
